Finding Confidence and Community: Why DPL Athlete Cayenne Wynia Calls Colorado Rush Her Best Decision

After bouncing around multiple youth soccer programs, DPL athlete Cayenne Wynia spent her final two club seasons with Colorado Rush (Colorado Springs) — a choice she confidently calls the best decision of her soccer career. Joining a brand-new club so late in her journey was intimidating, but the Rush family instantly alleviated her anxieties, welcoming her with open arms, genuine smiles, and an overwhelming network of supportive staff. This tight-knit, intentional environment quickly shifted her experience from merely playing a sport to finding a true community of driven, goal-oriented peers and dedicated coaches who genuinely cared about her future.

That support manifested most clearly when a Rush coach pushed Cayenne entirely out of her comfort zone, transitioning her to left back after she had spent nearly 90% of her life playing forward. Though highly reluctant at first, embracing that challenge completely redefined her individual career, unlocking a newfound confidence on the pitch that she still carries into her high school seasons. Beyond local tactical development, the sheer national scale of Colorado Rush provided her with elite exposure, utilizing their robust College Advisory Program (CAP) and cross-country club connections to give players unique opportunities to guest-play out of state and get recognized by collegiate scouts.

"Rush has been seriously the best decision that I've made in terms of club soccer. I've had the most success with Rush. I've had the most confidence."

Off the pitch, the deep bonds formed during DPL travel trips — like celebrating a successful weekend of games in Utah by scarfing down catered burgers in the hotel lobby and laughing in the hot tub — created lifelong memories that Cayenne treasures from the bottom of her heart. Surrounding herself with motivated, hard-working teammates inspired her to elevate her own standards academically, athletically, and personally.
