Recreational, competitive or elite: which level fits?
Recreational soccer is local, low-cost and open to everyone. Teams are usually formed by age, there are no tryouts and every player gets playing time. It is the right place to start and the right place to stay for kids who play for fun and friends.
Competitive or travel soccer adds tryouts, more training each week, licensed coaches and games against clubs across your region. It costs more and asks more of families: travel, tournaments and a year-round calendar.
Elite programs sit inside national platforms such as ECNL, ECNL Regional League, MLS NEXT and the Girls Academy. They are built for players aiming at the college game or beyond. If you are not sure where your child fits, choose "Not sure" in Link-Up and we'll include clubs that run several levels.
Questions to ask a club before tryouts
- How are teams formed, and how much playing time does each player get?
- Who coaches the team, and what licenses or experience do they have?
- What does a season cost in total, including uniforms, travel and tournaments?
- How many practices and games are there each week, and where?
- What happens to players who are not selected for the top team?
- Can we talk to a current parent? (On Find Your Club, many already have.)
Why verified video reviews matter
Club websites tell you what a club wants you to hear. On Find Your Club, parents, players and coaches explain in their own words what the club is actually like. Every review comes with a full transcript, so you can read what matters to you before you visit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find a good youth soccer club near me?
Start with location and level. Shortlist two or three clubs within a realistic drive, read or watch what current families say, ask each club the same questions about coaching, playing time and total cost, and attend a practice before tryouts.
What age can kids start club soccer?
Most clubs offer recreational programs from about age 4 and competitive teams from around U9 or U10. Age groups follow the player's birth year.
Is Link-Up free?
Yes. Link-Up is free for parents, athletes, coaches and club directors. Find Your Club is paid by the clubs, events and providers it works with, not by the people looking for them.
Who sees my information?
Only the organizations on your shortlist, and only because you tell us they can contact you. You confirm that before anything is sent. We also email your shortlist to you.
How are matches ordered?
By how close they are to you and how well they fit what you told us. Find Your Club partners with verified profiles and video reviews are labeled Featured and shown first among the matches in your area. Everything else is listed by distance.
What if a club or provider isn't a Find Your Club partner?
You can still shortlist it. We list every organization we know about, and we'll pass your request along on your behalf so they can get back to you.
What if the club I want isn't listed?
Add it to your shortlist by name. We'll find it and reach out, and add it to the directory.
