Alyssa Hamilton found the right soccer environment in her first go. It quickly became a lifelong commitment. Having played for Colorado EDGE since she was four years old, Alyssa never considered leaving for a "bigger" club.
Today, Alyssa is not just a club standout, but a Division 1 college soccer commit who finished her youth career playing in the highly competitive ECNL Regional League. Finding a Soccer Home Built on Loyalty
When families look for a youth soccer club, they are often searching for a program that offers clear pathways for growth without losing its tight-knit community feel. For Alyssa, that consistency was paramount.
"This is the only club I've ever played for in my entire life," Alyssa explains. "Never thought about switching to any bigger or better clubs. I knew this was the club for me, that my teams were all great. I loved my teammates. I loved my coaches."
That deep connection allowed her to thrive across different age groups, even playing up with the 2006s before returning to her natural 2007 age group. Her journey culminated in a special final season where she was coached by her dad, bringing her youth experience full circle in the community she calls home.
A Day-to-Day Environment Rooted in Growth
Developing players requires a delicate balance of teaching technical skills while ensuring athletes build mental resilience. Alyssa notes that the coaches at Colorado EDGE excel at pushing players to earn their success rather than having it handed to them. Coming from a club with a community-first identity taught her the value of perseverance.
Earning Recognition: "I think coming from a club with almost a smaller name... shows you to be mentally strong and really push yourself and work hard every day to earn things," Alyssa recalls. "You don't just be given things, you really have to work for it. You have to do the little things."
Balancing Work and Joy: At Colorado EDGE, success is about dedication, but not at the expense of enjoying the sport. "I was able to have fun at practice, but I also know when it was time to lock in and put my head down and just get the work done," says Alyssa. She credits the club with teaching her how to balance the demands of practice, school, and recovery without making soccer her entire life.
A Culture of Belonging: Whether a player is aiming for college or just playing for the love of the game, the staff is invested. "Everyone really cares here," Alyssa explains. "Multiple coaches will either come to your practice—not even your specific coach, but other teams' coaches... It's a great community and it's a great culture. That's what I want in my life."
Navigating High-Stakes Moments: ECNL-RL and Championships
While the day-to-day environment focuses on holistic development, Colorado EDGE also prepares its athletes for highly competitive, emotional moments. Entering the ECNL Regional League brought a new level of competition, but Alyssa's team was more than ready.
"When we joined the ECNL Regional League, our first season, we won league champs," Alyssa notes. "We showed that even though we're new to the league, we could still compete with everyone."
That competitive spirit carried them through memorable milestones, including winning State Cup and the league in the same year — all without a full-time goalkeeper on the roster. They also proved their mental toughness after a tough 5-1 preseason loss to a rival, Olympico, by bouncing back to win 9-2 in regular-season play. And on the national stage at an ECNL regional showcase in Florida, they went toe-to-toe with reigning champions featuring players committed to elite programs like Duke and Alabama. "We showed that even though we're a small name... we were still able to compete with them," she says.

When asked if she would recommend Colorado EDGE to another player or family, Alyssa doesn't hesitate. For her, it all comes back to a club that genuinely cares about the individual, regardless of their ultimate goal.

"They're very focused on you. It's not just about a big name, it's about building your players, making you the best you can be," Alyssa says. "They've always been supportive with whatever you want to do... I wouldn't recommend any other club but this one."
