Building Confidence on the Pitch: Inside Fort Wayne United FC with the Kaiser Family
For Whitney and Gunnar Kaiser, the youth soccer journey for their son Kaden began early. Kaden started in the Fort Wayne United FC Wee Bears program at just three years old. After taking a couple of seasons to explore different sports in local recreational leagues, Kaden realized soccer was his true passion. Seeking a program that offered more frequent touches and focused individual development, the Kaisers returned to Fort Wayne United.
Starting back in the Rec Cadets league, Kaden steadily progressed through the Select League and into the Junior Academy. Along the way, he also participated in the summer Futsal program and the Rhino Summer Camp. The Kaisers quickly discovered that Fort Wayne United provided the perfect environment to build Kaden's skills, boost his confidence, and foster lifelong friendships.
Individual Training and Targeted Skill Development
Fort Wayne United prioritizes individual growth alongside team success. For players wanting to elevate their game, one-on-one training sessions provide targeted instruction that standard team practices simply cannot cover in full.
"One of our favorite experiences with Fort Wayne United has been the individual training opportunities," Whitney and Gunnar explain. "Our son needed to improve a strong kick when it came to shooting. These one-on-one trainings allowed us to focus on that and teach him the right steps to get that good power kick. We have seen drastic improvement."
A Supportive Environment and Top-Tier Facilities
Playing in the Midwest means dealing with unpredictable weather. Fort Wayne United solves this challenge by offering premier indoor and outdoor facilities. This ensures players can train consistently year-round.
"Being able to practice on the outdoor fields when the weather is great is awesome. If the weather is poor, we get the indoor facilities at Plex North or Plex South," the Kaisers note. "It allows us to play during the winter too, which is a huge advantage."
The family also appreciates the club's excellent communication and dedicated coaching staff. Using the TeamSnap ONE app keeps everyone connected directly to coaches and directors. Furthermore, the coaches prioritize building individual relationships with the players.
"Their priority to know each and every individual child is something we love," they share. "Coach David tells the kids they only have to tell him their name once. If he forgets, he does push-ups. It makes it fun for the kids and shows he makes knowing them a priority."
Growing Confidence Through Camp Programs
Fort Wayne United offers specialized camps that help players step out of their comfort zones. Programs like the Rhino Summer Camp provide high-energy environments where kids can test their skills in game-like scenarios like World Cup tournaments and small-sided scrimmages.
"Probably the biggest change we saw in Kaden this year after camp was his confidence growth," the parents share. "He tended to be a pass-heavy kid. After camp this year, we saw a growth in him really feeling comfortable and confident going 1v1 against a defender. It has been great to see his growth."
Lifelong Friendships and Clear Pathways
Whether a player wants a recreational experience or aims for the highest competitive levels like MLS Next, the club provides clear pathways for every goal. The bonds formed on the field also extend well beyond soccer.
"I would highly recommend Fort Wayne United Club because of the vast opportunities it allows our son to have," they affirm. "The kids are building lifelong friendships right now. Kaden has kids coming over to the house to play soccer in the backyard or jump on video games together. They are true life friends. We would highly recommend the club to anybody we talk to."
