Finding a soccer club that prioritizes personal growth alongside athletic development is the key to a fulfilling youth sports experience. For Pierson Weimer, Colorado Rush was that place for five years, offering a community that extended far beyond the white lines of the pitch.
Seeking an environment where she could grow both as a player and a person, Pierson found a support system that guided her from her early club days all the way to the collegiate level.
Throughout her time with Colorado Rush, Pierson saw her game and character flourish
through the club’s unique philosophy. Despite arriving with a deep love for the game but "not a whole lot of skill," the investment from coaches like Nik Penn helped her bridge the gap to college soccer. The club’s national network provided a platform unlike any other, allowing her to guest play with different Rush teams across the country — highlighted by a memorable month playing three back-to-back tournaments with three different teams.
However, the impact of Colorado Rush extends well beyond tactical development. Pierson credits the club’s core values with preparing her for the challenges of everyday life. From the mentorship of coaches who helped her navigate major life decisions — including the transition away from competitive play — to the lifelong friendships formed during travel and practice, the club fostered an environment of mutual support and constant improvement.
"Rush offers such a wonderful environment with wonderful people, and I believe they have something to offer everyone. The skills, experiences, and connections I made at Rush have helped shape me as a person." – Pierson Weimer
Now looking back on her journey, Pierson remains a lifelong spokesperson for the club. By providing unique programs like Rushfest and Rush Select, Colorado Rush equipped her with the resilience and connections needed for success both on and off the field. Her advice to the next generation of Rush players is simple: don't rush the experience, work hard, and enjoy every part of the journey.
