Overcoming Adversity and Reaching the Next Level: Natalie Ramthun’s St. Croix Journey

Finding a soccer club that bridges the gap between local talent and collegiate recruitment is a pivotal step for any aspiring athlete. For Natalie Ramthun, a standout player for the 07/08 ECNL-RL Girls team, that transition began two and a half years ago when she decided to move from her town club to St. Croix Soccer Club. Seeking a platform that would push her technical limits and provide the visibility needed for the next level, Natalie found an environment that delivered on both counts.

Throughout her tenure at St. Croix, Natalie has seen her game transform through a culture of high-intensity training. The club’s emphasis on competitive practices ensures that every session serves as a catalyst for growth. By pushing one another to be better leaders and players daily, Natalie’s team has successfully competed in high-stakes matches across the country, turning the hard work of practice into the "enjoyable" success of game day.

However, the impact of St. Croix extends beyond the physical tactical board. Natalie highlights the mental fortitude she has gained, specifically the ability to overcome adversity. She recalls a defining moment when her team was struggling with low energy during a match. Their coach reminded them, "We decide the outcome of the game." That shift in perspective led to a second half played with renewed passion — a lesson in mental toughness that Natalie carries with her off the field.

"St. Croix gave me the opportunity to be exposed to more college coaches, and this allowed me to commit to a college to play soccer. The coaches, facility, and team culture truly make St. Croix special." – Natalie Ramthun

Now a college-committed athlete, Natalie credits St. Croix with preparing her for the future by instilling a vital life lesson: truly valuable things are not handed to you; they are worked for. By providing high-level coaching and a peer group of players who share the same drive, St. Croix has shaped Natalie into a player ready for the rigors of collegiate soccer and a person equipped for the challenges of life.
